Wild bird food includes bird seed mixes, peanuts, suet and more to attract beautiful birds to your back yard. In the past many people would just scatter the bird seed on the ground, or possibly have a single bird feeder filled with a generic wild bird mix expecting all birds to enjoy their fill. However backyard bird feeding has become more specialized, targeting the specific feeding habits of birds to meet their needs. Birds can be forgiving if a feeder is empty for a few days, but a feeder that is consistently empty won’t attract birds. Wild birds won’t starve if feeders are empty – they get most of their food from natural sources – but they also won’t return to an unreliable food source. Refilling feeders promptly will attract a wider range of birds to your home.
